Obama’s Ghostly Presence

When people are feeling insecure, they’d rather have someone who is strong and wrong rather than somebody who is weak and right. — Bill Clinton, 2002

Do we have to go through the last eight years all over again?  Haven’t Democrats learned that voters won’t respect a party of ciphers?

As far as I can tell, Max Baucus — insurance whore extraodinaireis the most powerful man in Washington.  That’s not change I can believe in.  It’s change that makes me want to puke.

I suppose this may all be legislative jujitsu, and that in the end, Henry Waxman or somebody will ride to the rescue and help pass a decent health care bill.  But who’s going to make it happen?  Don’t kid yourself — the majority of people in Congress just don’t give a fuck.  They have other priorities.

So — what will President Obama fight for?  It’s becoming less clear with each passing day.
