Wingnut paranoia over incipient government tyranny evaporates when a white police officer arrests a hyper-educated black man — in his own home — for disobedience and backtalk.  In such a case, the state is deemed all-powerful, and is portrayed as the vigilant protector of a law-abiding majority.
