Gay Marriage Debate: Bring It On, Republicans

Whenever you hear Bill Bennett start a sentence with “Americans are a tolerant people, Americans are a decent people”, you know there’s a big ol’ BUT coming.  Tolerance and decency don’t jibe with Bennett’s patented brand of basso profundo blowhard-ism. (If he shows his softer side, people might start confusing him with Raymond Burr.)

Today on CNN’s State of the Union, Bill’s BUT was all about how marriage is between a man and a woman, and it must be defended, and the culture is under attack — blah, blah, blah.  Bennett and the Family Research Council crowd are all excited about another “values” campaign in 2010.

Whatever, guys.  Knock yourselves out.  Young people already think you’re ridiculous, and nationwide, the fear of gays is receding every day.

Besides, there’s a little thing called “the economy”.  It’s kind of an important issue these days.  Nobody has time for your nonsense.

  1. Obama was correct when he linked America’s greater acceptance of minorities to generational differences. Love how you handled Bennett the Bigot!
