The Speech Heard ‘Round The Block

Dick Cheney came out of hibernation last night to growl at the neocons gathered at the Center for Security Policy.  (I think it’s safe to say Cheney was addressing — in person — every human being in Washington who still gives a shit what he thinks.)

Here’s the money quote:

The White House must stop dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger. Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries. Waffling, while our troops on the ground face an emboldened enemy, endangers them and hurts our cause.

Dithering plus waffling leads to emboldening.  That’s pretty much the mindset of the Cheney cabal.  If the President of the United States isn’t spearheading a Pickett’s Charge somewhere in the world, Americans might as well duct-tape themselves behind their their bedrooms doors and hide from the terrorists.  (Could neocons even formulate a foreign policy if they couldn’t use the word “embolden”?)

I may have to rethink my position on Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize.  He deserves the damn thing for keeping these twisted chickenhawks — who would have followed John McCain into the White House — from getting people killed for no reason.

  1. That would be true if Obama was holding back on a rushed or uninformed decision, but he’s not. He has all the intel he needs, and it all points to the same thing – unless you’re Cindy Sheehan.

This delay is clearly, and stupidly, political. Not because of Obama, in my opinion, but because of the moronic leftists within his own party who he still has to fight with and kiss the a$$ of to get votes for his policies. They’re putting internal politics over the safety of the troops.
