Happy Tea Party Day!

My, oh my, has a year gone by already?  I’m afraid so.

It’s time once again for patriotic American families to gather ’round the boob tube (permanently tuned to Fox News, of course) to watch angry white people protest Barack Obama’s fiscal irresponsibility.

Unfortunately, at the risk of being cast into political perdition, I won’t be participating this year.  The following budget chart has recently been brought to my attention:

Note the huge sea of red ink in 2004, smack dab in the middle of George W. Bush’s reign.  Strangely enough, I can’t recall Sean Hannity or Michelle Malkin ever mentioning it.  Nor can I recall either of them ever getting exercised about “tyranny” or “government takeovers” before Obama was elected.  Quite the contrary!  When Bush was riding high, every wingnut with a microphone implored all Americans to goose-step behind their resolute war president (“The Decider”) and suggested that any freedom-hating pantywaists who opposed the Bush agenda might consider moving to France before Homeland Security found a reason to detain them.

So no, I won’t be partaking in today’s teabagger hypocrisy festival.  Besides, I have to work for a living.  (I’m not collecting Social Security, so — unlike many terminally confused Tea Partiers — I don’t have time to bite the hand that feeds me.)
