Republicans Think You’re Stupid

No, you’re not looking at the inside back cover of the latest issue of Mad magazine.  It’s a chart from the Republican Party’s “Pledge To America” purporting to illustrate “Obamacare”.

This thing is so incredibly ludicrous that when I first saw it (here), I clicked on its digital signature to find out where it came from.  I wasn’t the only one:

The Republican Party’s 21-page blueprint, “Pledge to America,” was put together with oversight by a House staffer [Brian Wild] who, up till April 2010, served as a lobbyist for some of the nation’s most powerful oil, pharmaceutical, and insurance companies.

I don’t mind that Republicans are letting corporations write their propaganda.  Quite the contrary — I commend them for it.  Eliminate the middleman, I always say.

I’m a little shocked, however at the brazen stupidity of this particular visual.  Health care — notwithstanding the views of corporate lobbyists —  is kind of a serious issue.  Do Republicans think everybody is as dumb as Sean Hannity?

I smell an overconfident party.
