From Rick’s political dictionary:
teabagger n. 1. the desiccated carcass of a Republican Clinton-hater re-animated by repeated exposure to the rantings of Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and other con artists; a conservative political zombie. 2. one who engages in teabagging.
It was only a matter of time before the utter fraudulence of Tea Party Republicans would become painfully evident. Here’s Michele Bachmann brazenly flip-flopping on the subject of earmarks:
Even as they publicly push a moratorium on the practice, some in the caucus are looking for a way out. On Tuesday morning, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that she wants to redefine exactly what an earmark is. Specifically, she said, transportation projects should not be placed under the umbrella.
“Advocating for transportation projects for ones district in my mind does not equate to an earmark,” said the Minnesota Republican. “I don’t believe that building roads and bridges and interchanges should be considered an earmark. . .There’s a big difference between funding a tea pot museum and a bridge over a vital waterway.”
Republicans have been budgetary hypocrites since Ronald Reagan began piling up the national debt in the eighties. And just wait till the current Boehner-McConnell Gang is forced to consider real cuts in Medicare in order to pay for more tax giveaways. They’ll all be heading for cover faster than Dick Cheney running down a draft deferment.
The sad thing is that rank-and-file right-wingers always go along for the ride. I’m beginning to think that maybe they’re not too bright.
