Missing Bill Frist

Little did we know during the Nightmare Years (2001-2008) that the cat killer would one day be the avatar of what passes for Republican sanity:

Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) has a message for Republicans moving to repeal President Obama’s landmark health care reform law: Don’t.

Frist, a physician who retired from Congress in 2007, said while the legislation is not perfect, and “not the bill that I would have drafted,” it is “the law of the land.”

He suggests that instead of mounting an effort to repeal it (which is doomed in the House), Republicans should use the law as a “platform” to improve the law.

Now I realize that Dr. Frist has got himself completely wired in to make a fortune off the new health care system.  I have no illusions about his nobility.  But have you heard any alleged GOP moderates — Yes, I mean you, Olympia Snowe! — pushing back against the boneheaded repeal-istas currently running amuck in Congress?

I’ll say one thing for the Tea Party Movement: It sure helps keep the troops in line.
