Jonesing For Captain Codpiece

President Obama’s policy on Libya looks messy.  It has to look that way.  Regime change is not our stated goal.  We’re not going back to the days when a certain dim-witted American president swaggered across the deck of an aircraft carrier declaring mission accomplished — when it wasn’t and couldn’t be.  Instead, we’re going to do the best we can, in a limited way, to save lives and look out for our interests.

Authoritarian right-wingers can’t accept that.  They need a strong-looking leader to follow off a cliff.

  1. Thank you. It will be interesting to see what the middle east and northern africa look like in 10 years.

Probably the same. Bad people ruling with an iron fist, keeping their people down, stealing their money, and sending us oil.

Seems like it would be cheaper to just keep the current bad people in place. I guess every once in a while we need to take one of them out to send a message to the others…. I don’t mean to be cynical.
