Subconsciously Democratic

Why don’t Republicans like their candidates?  I have a new theory: They’re finally fed up with the empty conservative slogans they’ve been hearing for the last thirty years.  In fact, some of them are, at least for now, secret Democrats.

Donald Trump shot up in the polls because he was acting like a buffoon.  But if he became a serious candidate, he would have to spout the same tired gibberish as Mitt Romney and the rest of them.  Not very inspiring.

Republican presidential candidates are in favor of tax cuts, deregulation and whatever the teabaggers want that particular week.  Anything else is “big government”.  Could it be dawning on Republican foot soldiers that their leaders are useless?

GOP presidential candidates are like actors in a sitcom with really bad writers.  It’s not their fault they have lousy ratings.

  1. Hey how about the Tom Coburn and John Ensign presidential ticket, it represents what the GOP is, rather than what they profess to be. But I guess it would be like the Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump presidential ticket, right?

  2. I agree with this post, except for the secret democrats line. I’m not trying to be mean or anything, I just don’t understand it.

    • It means that in some inchoate sense they recognize that at this point in our history, it’s going to take more than the usual right-wing slogans to get us out of the ungodly mess Bush left. But they’re not ready to leave the GOP.

  3. Oh. Got it. Sometimes I’m a little slow…
