The Tea Party: Worse Than You Think

The disgraceful performance of the teabaggers during the debt ceiling debacle is only the tip of a very nasty iceberg. The Center for American Progress has analyzed the Tea Party’s radical, unconstitutional agenda, and its conclusions are shocking:

It is difficult to count how many essential laws would simply cease to exist if the Tea Party won its battle to reshape our founding document, but a short list includes:

  • Social Security and Medicare
  • Medicaid, children’s health insurance, and other health care programs
  • All federal education programs
  • All federal antipoverty programs
  • Federal disaster relief
  • Federal food safety inspections and other food safety programs
  • Child labor laws, the minimum wage, overtime, and other labor protections
  • Federal civil rights laws

Read more here. And pass it on. These people are dangerous.

  1. Yessss. Let’s let the state’s decide for themselves what is best for it’s citizens. 10th Amendment blasphemy. That worked out so well in the past. Ugh. Like so many uber-religious people I know…with the Tea Partiers and conservatives, the more they think they “know” the Constitution, the more they endow themselves with highly disturbing justifications for shredding it. Yes, they are dangerous.
