REUTERS — A new Gallup poll showing public approval of House Republicans at less than zero percent has statisticians scratching their heads.
When voters were asked if they approved of Congressional Republicans, -6% of respondents said yes. Equally as strange, 107% said they disapproved.
“We may be breaking new conceptual ground here,” said Stanley Goodspeed, chief analyst for Gallup. “Every time we crunch the numbers we get the same result. Either people have found some way to game the system, or the Republican Party is so godawful that its continued existence is warping the very laws of mathematics.”
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3%, though Goodspeed concedes that in this case, he doesn’t know what that means.
