Rush To The Bottom

In Rush Limbaugh’s America, there are three classes: the Rulers, the Enablers, and the Subhumans.

The Rulers are rich white males. (Republican politicians call them “job creators.”) The Rulers are solely responsible for all progress. The Rulers make the rules, and there is one rule that rules them all: Only to the extent that the Rulers become richer will the masses advance.

The Enablers do the bidding of the Rulers, usually unknowingly. People who vote Republican are Enablers; so are people who don’t vote. The Rulers employ a vast army of propagandists to convince people to vote against their own interests, or — better yet — not to participate in the political process at all.

The Subhumans fall into two overlapping categories: the Resistors and the Others. The Resistors oppose the agenda of the Rulers and work to defeat it. The Others are members of “undesirable” groups: African-Americans, Muslims, gays, students, and the unemployed, to name a few. Both categories of Subhumans may be demeaed with impunity in order to create more gullible Enablers.

In Rush Limbaugh’s America, women are an increasingly prominent part of the Subhuman class. Thus, we hear the spiritual leader of the Republican Party saying things like this:

What does it say about the college coed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says she must be paid to have sex? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We’re the pimps.

And this:

A Georgetown coed told Nancy Pelosi’s hearing that the women in her law school program are having so much sex they’re going broke, so you and I should have to pay for their birth control. So what would you call that? I called it what it is. So, I’m offering a compromise today: I will buy all of the women at Georgetown University as much aspirin to put between their knees as they want.

And this:

So Miss Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.

I guess this is supposed to be satire for people who think Dennis Miller is funny. But at some point, won’t Republicans have to throw Rush Limbaugh overboard?
