Krugman Bites His Tongue

Paul Krugman went on CNBC today. He describes the experience on his blog:

Wow. I just did Squawk Box — allegedly about my book, but we never got there. Instead it was one zombie idea after another — Europe is collapsing because of big government, health care is terribly rationed in France, we can save lots of money by denying Medicare to billionaires, on and on.

Krugman is being kind. This thing was a train wreck. Joe Kernen condescendingly called the Nobel Prize winner, who’s been right about almost everything, a “unicorn”, Michele Caruso-Cabrera said stupid things about health care, and Andrew Ross Sorkin tried to hide under the desk. It’s a good thing Krugman was on the show to plug his book or he would have made mincemeat of these clowns. I’ve seen him do it.

CNBC can be useful, but Bloomberg is much less wingnutty. (Fox Business doesn’t count. It only has six viewers, and they’re all older than Don Imus and Lou Dobbs. Combined.)
